The multiplayer battle arena game, ‘Spider Tanks’, is poised for resurgence under a new guise, ‘Spider Tanks: Cores of Chaos.’ Originally launched in 2021 by Dutch-based GAMEDIA, the game encountered operational hurdles with its previous collaborator, Gala Games. Renewed under the partnership with Immutable, the early access for this game is eagerly anticipated on December 8, 2025.
A Fresh Foundation on Immutable
To facilitate a smoother gameplay experience along with scaling benefits, ‘Spider Tanks: Cores of Chaos’ will be based on Immutable’s Ethereum Layer 2 network. Robbie Ferguson, Co-Founder and President of Immutable, emphasized the synergy between the game and their technology, stating, “Our technology will greatly enhance the user experience, connecting enjoyable, high-quality gameplay with innovative web3 technology.” Dittmar Tukker, CEO of GAMEDIA, outlined their focus on entertainment and transparency in this new venture.
Troubled Partnership and Legal Tussles
‘Spider Tanks’ had a rocky journey with Gala Games, which was marred by disagreements over focus and direction as Gala expanded into other ventures like film and real estate. This partnership deteriorated by mid-2024, and by October 2023, GAMEDIA decided to sever ties. The intellectual property dispute that followed culminated in the Central District Court of California dismissing the case in September 2024, favoring neither party but enabling GAMEDIA to proceed independently.
Immutable and GAMEDIA: A New Chapter
Post-legal struggles, 2024 and 2025 were pivotal years establishing the collaboration between Immutable and GAMEDIA, marked by mutual interactions and social media updates. Fans of the game had their interest reignited by a teaser video released in August, hinting at the game’s return. ‘Spider Tanks: Cores of Chaos’ sets a new chapter for this entity in the realm of web3 gaming, highlighting an enduring commitment to innovation, community engagement, and delivering a quality gaming experience.
