Call of Duty has often been mocked and criticized for its fanciful skins that don’t fit in with the context of a global conflict. That’s why Battlefield 6 has opted for a more realistic approach.
Embark Studios will follow the same trend as Electronic Arts’ FPS by focusing on realism for future ARC Raiders skins. Virgil Watkins, who is responsible for the game’s design, confirmed this in a recent interview.
*« What seems true to me is that we will keep the current aesthetic. It fits with our sensibility about how these elements look and where they belong in the world and within the fiction.”
I think we said in a meeting a while back that we would never make a Santa Claus costume, but we could create something in our own style and with our own aesthetic that evokes Santa Claus. That doesn’t mean we’ll have a Santa Claus costume, but I think that’s the general idea.
I think that, since a large part of our game is based on this element, it would be a real shame to disrupt it by incorporating, I don’t know, a T-Rex costume running around everywhere. I don’t think such innovations are worth it. »
