Capcom’s Resident Evil series is arguably not only the most popular franchise in the survival horror genre, but it’s one of the most recognisable names in the entire video game industry.
Since its inception in 1996 on the original PlayStation, fans have been charmed by its eerie atmosphere, intriguing cast of characters (both good and evil), puzzle-solving, action and in some cases, a heavy dose of cheesy campness.
Sure, the Resident Evil series hasn’t always hit a home run, multiplayer abominations, Umbrella Corps and RE:Verse, I’m looking at you. But for the most part, over the last nearly 30 years, fans of the Capcom series have been eating well.
Now, fans are eagerly waiting for the release of Resident Evil Requiem, which arrives next year and stars a new playable character, Grace Ashcroft, daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft from the Resident Evil Outbreak series. However, rumours have suggested that a legendary character could also return.

Nearly 30 years after the US government dropped a nuke on Raccoon City in an attempt to cover up the Umbrella Corps’ T-Virus outbreak, players will return to its now crumbled wasteland, one last time.
Yesterday, Capcom not only announced that pre-orders for Resident Evil Requiem have gone live, but Nintendo gamers will also be able to pick up a snazzy Pro Controller for the Switch 2 as well as a Grace Ashcroft amiibo.
Speaking of Grace Ashcroft, for the first time in the series, a Resident Evil game will be available to pre-order on the Epic Games Store with Resident Evil Requiem.
Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the living.

Who is Grace Ashcroft?
“An intelligence analyst for the FBI who demonstrates intense focus and insight in deductive reasoning and analysis,” reads the description for Grace Ashcroft. “Her mother’s death shook her to the soul, making her an introvert who immerses herself in work. So she heads to the abandoned hotel alone to investigate this mysterious death.”
So, to celebrate its debut on the digital PC store, those who pre-order Resident Evil Requiem will be gifted with a free Grace Ashcroft skin to be used in the ever-popular battle royale game, Fortnite.
All pre-orders, regardless of the platform or version of the game, will also receive a Grace Ashcroft “apocalypse” skin for Resident Evil Requiem.
As for the Grace Ashcroft skin in Fortnite, once you’ve pre-ordered Resident Evil Requiem on the Epic Games Store, a code will be emailed close to when the skin can be used in March 2026.
Resident Evil Requiem will be released on 27 February 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2.
