Ghost of Tsushima Drops Free DLC and Major Steam Deck Compatibility Update

Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima is in the news for a massive Steam update that lets fans play the game on the go, and on top of that, free Legends DLC has been announced.

This week, Sucker Punch’s Ghost of Tsushima has received a massive update on Steam designed to improve the title’s performance, deliver technical improvements and fullĀ Steam DeckĀ verification. The Steam patch has also separated the game’s single-player and online multiplayer modes, allowing Legends to be downloaded separately as newly announced free DLC now available for the title.

The Legends mode is now available as a separate DLC for no additional cost on Steam for those who own or purchase Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, and the experience doesn’t change for existing players. The reasoning for the ā€˜separation’ is said to improve stability and compatibility across devices. It’s worth noting that new players will have to activate the free Legends DLC once to play the online multiplayer Legends mode, and an active PlayStation Network Account is a rigid requirement for Legends mode (Sony has had issues with this requirement in the past on the Steam platform).

Alongside the big updates, patch 8 has also introduced ā€œvarious other crash fixes and bug fixes,ā€ while updating performance on the Steam Deck. Ā Sucker Punch Productions didn’t stop at Steam Deck verification with this patch; they also created a Steam Deck-optimized graphics preset and tweaked the game’s UI scaling to accommodate the platform’s smaller screen. Separating the Legends and base single-player Ghost of Tsushima has also apparently fixed another problem; some regions have been having issues accessing the single-player content due to the PSN ID requirement, but now fans can play single-player without needing one due to the separation of Legends and the single-player campaign.
