Steam users rejoice. If you’re into horror games or are feeling particularly brave this Halloween there are plenty of spooky games to get stuck into.
I’d personally like to recommend a Silent Hill game for this year’s big day, either Silent Hill f or Silent Hill 2 (2024), both offer different experiences but you can’t go wrong with either.
That said, we’ve been keeping an eye on Steam this week as the Steam Screamfest is currently underway, highlighting some of the most horrifying games on the platform as well as supplying us with huge discounts on games to play when the sun goes down.
Some of these games you can play right now but some have been specially announced during this year’s festivities with a 2026 release in mind.
One such game that caught our eye is titled The Day I Will Die, developed and published by Lost Lighthouse Games, and it looks like a mash-up of Resident Evil and Silent Hill in the best way possible.

Its Steam description reads: “Trapped in a misty valley of endless time loops, confront echoes of your childhood and creatures from old tales and legends. Explore forgotten paths stirring subconscious fears, face nightmarish foes, and uncover a story of fading dreams and shadows of adulthood.”
Like many horror games you’re not entirely at the mercy of whatever is after you. You will be armed but that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re safe.
I think what stands out to me the most with The Day I Will Die is the lighting seen in the screenshots and trailer. There’s some excellent work being done with colours and shadows that obscure some of the stuff in front of you, which I’d imagine will make for a very tense gameplay experience.
There’s also some psychological elements too. Again It looks like a blend of the action/combat of Resident Evil with the slower pace of Silent Hill.
I’m also intrigued by the promise of “A constant sense of danger and uncertainty in a world engulfed by mist” as well as “a powerful story that will stay with you long after the game is over.”
The Day I Will Die is currently out yet, it was only announced this week as part of Steam’s spooky festivities but it is coming out next year in the big 2026.
An exact release window hasn’t been shared as of yet, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for any updates.
