Battlefield: RedSec is Free-to-Play – Battle Royale Confirmed for October 28th Launch

In another of a long line of worst-kept secrets for the franchise, Battlefield 6’s battle royale mode, RedSec (short for Redacted Sector), officially drops tomorrow at 8 PM PT. The game’s official Twitter didn’t offer much further details beyond “Eyes up. Plates on,” but you can likely expect a bigger breakdown tomorrow when Season 1 goes live.

Battle royale, first introduced to the series with Battlefield 5’s Firestorm, has been in testing since September via Battlefield Labs. It includes a separate map from multiplayer, with 25 squads of four players each competing for supremacy, set to the same core destruction as the base game.

Perhaps the most notable part is that the encroaching ring will instantly kill you. No hopping in and out, like Fortnite or Apex Legends.

Of course, whether this has made it into RedSec remains to be seen. For more details on Battlefield 6 Season 1, which introduces a new map called Blackwell Fields and the new Strikepoint mode when it launches tomorrow, head here. You can also read our review for the base game here.
