PS5, PC, and Xbox Gamers Issued Warning Over Free Games Countdown

Over the years, the amount of various gaming accounts we have had to make in order to access some of our favourite games is probably in the hundreds.

However, what happens when you abandon a game and grow out of it, leaving it to the vestiges of time?

Well, your account gets deleted in its entirety apparently.

That is most certainly the case for all of the titles under the Wargaming.net bracket as a recent email sent out to all previous users has been unveiled.

Issued to all PlayStation, PC and Xbox gamers who have previously created an account with Wargaming, the email explains that “in an effort to improve our security and privacy policies”, it will be deleting accounts that have been inactive for a long period of time.

“This ensures that we are only keeping your personal data for as long as necessary,” the statement reads.

However, there is no need to worry if you have not hopped onto a Wargaming title for a few weeks as the “long period of time” refers to those who have been inactive for 10+ years.

The caveat is that, even if you acquired in-game purchases, game items, or pending purchases/items to that account, it will still be deleted regardless.

Basically, if you purchased a rare item in-game, but you still have not been active for over a decade, your account will still be deleted so this is worth acknowledging if you fall under that category.

This email was sent out to all of those whose accounts are eligible for deletion but if that is you, there is still a way to save it.

If you log into your Wargaming account over the next 45 days and click the “Restore Account” button, you will be able to restore it but this must be done before 6 December 2025.

Additionally, if your account is deleted at this time, another user will be able to snap up your nickname when creating a new account which may just be useful if your younger self chose an embarrassing one.

Wargaming covers a variety of different games including World of Tanks, World of Warships, World of Warplanes, World of Tanks: Blitz, World of Tanks: Modern Armour, World of Warships: Legends, Blitz: World of Warships, and Master of Orion.

So if you have any decade-old accounts on any of these games, make sure you do not get your account unceremoniously deleted over the next few weeks.
