James Bond returns next year with a new game, James Bond: 007 First Light, and fans couldn’t be more excited for this new era.
The James Bond franchise has been pretty quiet over the past few years ever since No Time To Die dropped, which had viewers say goodbye to Daniel Craig’s beloved rendition of the character and left everyone guessing where the series will go next.
While a new film hasn’t been announced yet, the James Bond: 007 First Light game will likely do a good job of bridging the gap between the secret agent’s next big outing.
The new game follows a younger Bond attempting to earn 00 status through his first mission with MI6.
From what we’ve seen so far, it’ll have all the flair and charm that made the films so good, and to top it off, the game will even get its own theme song.
This isn’t to be confused with the James Bond theme, which has been teased at points during the game’s marketing, but the opening credits song. Examples include ‘Skyfall’ by Adele or ‘No Time To Die’ by Billie Eilish.
For James Bond: 007 First Light, it’s said that Lana Del Rey has written a song for the game’s opening credits, as the performer recently registered a song with the ASCAP (the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers).
The song is apparently called ‘First Light’, obviously sharing its name with the upcoming James Bond game.
Take it with a pinch of salt, obviously, as Lana Del Rey does have another album on the way, so it could very well be a coincidence.
That said, it wouldn’t be the first time a celebrity has written music for a James Bond project, and just because it’s a video game, doesn’t mean it’s any less of a milestone for artists to have their name attached to.
James Bond: 007 First Light will boast gameplay not dissimilar to the Hitman games, also developed and produced by IOI Interactive.
There’ll be plenty of sneaking around and using a silver-tongue to bypass obstacles and security, but unlike the Hitman games, there’ll be a larger emphasis on action set-pieces.
From what we’ve seen so far, James Bond: 007 First Light looks like a fully-fledged James Bond film you can play, and we’re excited for the game to launch next year on 27 March 2026 for new-gen hardware.
