Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Director Promises “A Bit More Concise” Structure in Part 3

Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s third part has yet to be revealed despite creative director Tetsuya Nomura assuring that its announcement schedule is on track. However, with Final Fantasy 7 Intergrade coming to Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2, followed by Rebirth, the development team has talked a lot about what Part 3 will offer.

This includes a “bit more concise” structure compared to the second game, says director Naoki Hamaguchi. Speaking to Screenrant, he addressed complaints about some sections running for too long. “Regarding time management in certain sections, especially in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, I honestly don’t believe that they were longer than necessary. I feel like nowadays, players just have too much to do and too much to play; so they often feel the urge that something has to be concluded quickly.

“As we work on the conclusion to the trilogy, we are striking a balance on how story arcs are told and spread out so as to ensure that the game feels a bit more concise.”

Of course, Hamaguchi also believes the ending, another contentious element of Rebirth, will land well, appealing to “those who loved the original and those who became fans of Final Fantasy 7 thanks to the Remake series. I’m confident this new game will be loved by everyone.” High expectations, but given how critically acclaimed the trilogy has been thus far, Square Enix may indeed stick the landing.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 doesn’t have a release window but unlike its predecessors, it will launch for Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2 alongside PS5 and PC. Despite potential development hurdles with the Series S, Hamaguchi assured that the title hasn’t been affected by this multiplatform approach. Head here for more details.
