The Absolum devs deliberately chose to leave Xbox out

With an average Metacritic score of 87%, Absolum is one of the big hits of the end of the year. This beat ’em up roguelite developed by Dotemu is currently available on PS5, PS4, Switch and PC.

For now, this highly acclaimed title is not available on Xbox… And there’s a good reason for that. On Discord, the game’s community manager clearly explained that Microsoft consoles were not a priority during development. Absolum may never even be released on Xbox.

“The team behind Absolum are about as small as our in-game resistance movement. Because of the team size (as with all similar titles) we have to prioritise here and there. It’s pretty rare for us to release on EVERY platform and in this case, Xbox just wasn’t a priority and it’s not in our plans for THIS title.”

Absolutely, it really highlights how developers prioritize certain platforms based on their target audience. With an average Metacritic score of 87%, it seems like they were confident in their choice to focus on other platforms, perhaps to optimize performance or user experience. It’ll be intriguing to see how this decision affects their player base in the long run!
