While Nintendo was making announcements during its September 2025 Nintendo Direct, Capcom had a surprising reveal of its own. The developer and publisher announced Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection, bringing these Nintendo DS classics to PlayStation platforms for the first time.
The announcement trailer revealed alongside the announcement doesn’t share too much. But it does unveil all the games that will be part of the collection, and confirms a 2026 release window for PS4 and PS5.
What is included in the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection?
Originally released for the Nintendo DS between 2007 and 2009 in North America, the Mega Man Star Force series includes three entries, each with multiple releases. The Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection includes all seven games. Here are all the games included in the Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection:
- Mega Man Star Force Leo
- Mega Man Star Force Dragon
- Mega Man Star Force Pegasus
- Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Ninja
- Mega Man Star Force 2 Zerker x Saurian
- Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace
- Mega Man Star Force 3 Red Joker
The Mega Man Star Force series was essentially a successor of the lauded Mega Man Battle Network series that originally released on the Game Boy Advance in 2001. It featured similar gameplay to its predecessor, but also included features that took advantage of the DS’ wireless functionality, like Battle Card trading and battling.
Here’s a brief description of the Mega Man Star Force series:
“It is the year 220X, and the world has seen rapid advancements in Wave technology. Our protagonist, 11-year-old Geo Stelar, refuses to go to school as he mourns the disappearance of his astronaut father. One night, Geo is at the observatory gazing at stars as he usually does. Suddenly, his Transer picks up a signal from space and he is hit with a powerful electric shock! When he finally comes to, an alien with an electromagnetic wave body called Omega-Xis is standing over him…”
