Last year was a disastrous one for Microsoft in terms of console sales. According to a recent report by Christopher Dring for The Game Business, the American company simply sank in 2025 in the UK.
Xbox console sales fell by 39% in the UK, “making it comfortably the worst year on record”, according to Dring. The PlayStation 5 also struggled, recording a 12% drop in sales in the UK in 2025.
Of course, we don’t have exact figures. According to VGChartz, 34.1 million Xbox Series X|S consoles were sold worldwide, compared to 86.12 million PS5s.
