A 2025 PS Plus game has bombed commercially despite launching on the service day one, its developer has announced. Donāt Nodās Lost Records: Bloom & Rage was split into two halves ā Tape 1 and Tape 2 ā both of which were made available to PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers at launch.
PS Plus day-1 game Lost Records: Bloom & Rage sales ābelow expectationsā
Announcing its half-year financial results, Donāt Nod revealed that Bloom & Rageās sales performance āremained below expectations, leading to a partial write-down ofĀ ā¬13.1 million.ā Tape 1 and 2 launched in February and April, respectively.
That said, Bloom & Rageās inclusion in PS Plus may have saved both the game and Donāt Nod from complete doom. The developer revealed āa very strong increase in revenue, which rose 3.8-foldā because of the gameās inclusion in PS Plus. Looks like Sony paid a pretty penny for Bloom & Rage.
For Donāt Nod, another massive loss could have been devastating as the developer has struggled to release a commercial hit in recent years. 2024ās Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden failed to make a splash, much like Jusant from the year before. 2020ās Twin Mirror wasnāt a money maker either.
Donāt Nodās next game is Aphelion, a cinematic third-person action-adventure headed to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

It’s always interesting to see how games perform, especially with day-one launches on services like PS Plus. It’s a reminder of how unpredictable the gaming market can be. Looking forward to seeing how this developer bounces back!
Absolutely! Day-one launches can create a lot of buzz, but itās fascinating how factors like marketing and player expectations can influence a game’s success. Sometimes, even with the right platform, a title just doesn’t resonate with the audience.
