Publisher Electronic Arts has decided to shut down a PS4 game after a little over seven years. NBA Live 19 players should mark their calendars with the game’s shutdown date as its multiplayer trophies will become unobtainable come 2026.
PS4 game NBA Live 19 scheduled to be shut down in January 2026
Frankly, I’m a bit surprised that NBA Live 19 servers were kept online this long. EA and 2K aren’t exactly known for supporting their sports franchises beyond a couple of years.
That said, basketball games tend to fare well in terms of player base, and NBA Live 19 did have quite a few players up until recently, despite being replaced by numerous basketball games since.
NBA Live 19 will shut down on January 30, 2026. The game is currently playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility, so even if you no longer have a PS4, you can mop up those trophies.
The game is no longer available to purchase on the PS Store, so this update is for existing owners only.
Unfortunately, there are reports of some NBA Live 19 trophies being broken, leading to an unobtainable Platinum trophy. We haven’t tested this ourselves, but going by the percentage of Platinum trophy owners on PSNProfiles, it does look like something is amiss.
Don’t expect EA to fix anything at this point, though.
