Unfortunately, we are now used to seeing clones or even crude copies of certain major licenses appearing in various online stores. Even the PlayStation Store has suffered this.
Sony’s store is once again under scrutiny after the addition of Anime Village Online, whose title’s cover image seems very clearly inspired by Animal Crossing. Listed for 2027 on PS5, Wisnu Sudirman’s game offers to “create a perfect life” by exploring a living world and building your home. It will also be possible to design furniture, fish, cultivate land, and decorate the environment alone or cooperatively.
Of course, this is quite similar to the Nintendo franchise. For now, it is impossible to know whether Anime Village Online is a real video game or just a mere scam.
Last January, another Animal Crossing clone called Anime Life Sim appeared on the PlayStation Store. It has since been removed.
