Nintendo Orders 20 Million Switch 2 Consoles for Fiscal Year 2027 – Rumor

It’s been a rather interesting year for Nintendo thus far, especially with Switch 2 sales. From reportedly dropping US production by 30 percent to announcing a global price increase for later this year, you would think that the next fiscal year would be quite bumpy. However, sources speaking to Bloomberg claim Nintendo asked for 20 million Switch 2 units from partners and suppliers.

These will reportedly last until March 31st, 2027, and represent a 20 percent increase over the official forecast of 16.5 million. While the plan isn’t final by any means and could change, it seems Nintendo is expecting to surpass expectations and preparing stock in advance.

Analyst Serkan Toto told the site that, “For them, there is no real downside in lowballing numbers first and then surpassing them later. The just-finished fiscal year is a good example.”

While that may be true, you’d have to think that the company has some here-to-unannounced projects that could turn the tide. We already know about projects like Splatoon Raiders and Star Fox, both due this Summer, but there’s still a big question mark about the Fall and Holiday seasons.

Perhaps rumors of a remake for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, one of Nintendo’s most beloved entries in the series, are true after all. It’s reportedly launching in the lead-up to the Holiday season, with an announcement potentially coming mid-June, allegedly with the next Nintendo Direct. Stay tuned for updates in the meantime.
